Dikran holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Newcastle University (UK) and completed postdoctoral research in biochemical genetics at the Cambridge Laboratory (UK), followed by work as a Senior Scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He has been an academic researcher and faculty member since 2005 and has spent 25 years in progressively senior roles in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently at Amgen, Takeda, and Merck, focusing on global scientific publications and strategy. He is a founding member and currently serves as Faculty at the University of California, San Diego Extension, teaching medical writing and mentoring graduate and professional students worldwide and has previously served as faculty at the University of Southern California in the Pharmacy department.
An active leader and author in the scientific communications community, Dikran has co-chaired several publication committees and currently co-chairs the Publication Practices Committee at ISMPP, looking into publication policies in pharma. He currently leads and contributes to pivotal workstreams, including patient involvement in publications, and is an author on the Good Publication Practices (GPP) guidelines.
He is also the founder of a consulting firm specializing on his interests, advising pharma, biotech, and academic colleagues on publication strategy, compliance, and the responsible use of AI, with a focus on publication ethics, AI audit standards, and patient involvement in publications.
